Art & Craft Classes in Nottingham

Whether you're new to arts and crafts or have experience but want to brush up on your skills, we have something for everyone to enjoy. All our classes and workshops are taught by professional tutors and many even include the use of specialist tools and equipment. We also provide tea, coffee and biscuits to help keep the creativity flowing.

Our weekly classes include:

  • Most of our weekly classes are £10 per week with you providing your own materials, with the exception of card making, which is £12.50 with materials provided, and silversmithing which is £15.

Our half & full day workshops include:

We run regular full day and some half day Saturday workshops from either 10:30am-4:00pm or 10:30am-1:30pm. Prices range from £25 - £70. Some include materials, but please check individual details for each workshop. Lunch can be ordered from The Local Not Global Deli who put together a special menu for us. Alternatively you can bring your own. We have a kitchen area with a fridge and microwave. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.

Upcoming workshops & Classes

Saturday 18th May - Paper cutting with Lisa Williams. 10.30am-1.30pm. £25, plus £3 for materials in cash to the tutor. Option to buy frame from the tutor on the day to display your finished piece - £4 cash. 

On this paper cutting workshop, you will learn how to use a craft knife to create patterns in paper, which you can then place on top of a coloured sheet and display as a beautiful piece of artwork.

You will practice the technique first with some test sheets of paper, before you create your final piece. There will be a template provided for you to cut around, so don't worry if you are short for inspiration! The tutor will give you support and guidance throughout the session, both as a group and individually. You will be able to use the skills that you learn to continue your new hobby at home. After the workshop, the tutor will provide you will additional templates to take away.

This unique approach to making artwork is a fun and different way of creating decorations for the home, office, or any indoor space.


Saturday 22nd June - Drawing & Painting Cats with Helen Nowell. 10.30am-4pm. £40, bring your own materials. 

This class aims to improve your understanding of shapes and proportion, and how these, when combined, can create the fundamental elements of depicting cats. We will also be concentrating on depicting specific features of these animalsand how we can suggest life within these features. We will look how we can suggest the textures of fur in specific mediums such as acrylics and pastels. The workshop has a keen emphasis on developing drawing skills and observation. 

You can choose to depict a domestic cat or a wild cat depending on your preference. The class aims to build your confidence; advice, guidance and demonstrations are given throughout the day in a friendly and relaxed environment. 

Saturday 29th June - Drawing & Painting Landscapes & Cityscapes with Oliver Lovley. 10.30am-4pm. £40, bring your own materials. 

On this workshop you will explore drawing and painting landscapes & cityscapes using pencil and paints, making use of natural lines to contrast with observed ruled lines. Using basic measurement and observation in your drawing you can build structures of both natural and human-made subjects of landscapes and buildings, complimenting each other for dramatic visual excitement.

Weather permitting there will be the option to wander down the road into Beeston to draw buildings and natural areas from life before returning to the workshop to add paint and texture. Any level of ability welcome. Individual guidance given.

Materials needed: reference photos of various cityscapes and/or landscapes; 300gsm watercolour paper; paint brushes of varying thicknesses; watercolour or acrylic paints; a small sketchbook; 2B pencil; sharpener; eraser; ruler.

Saturday 6th July - Silversmithing Foldforming with Jessica Noonan. 10.30am-1.30pm. £45 including materials.

Full refunds will be issued if the workshop is cancelled or if you cancel more than 2 weeks before. Cancellations less than 2 weeks before the workshop are refunded at our discretion.

Children's art course - with Danielle Telfer. Tuesdays during school term time 4.30pm-6.30pm. £12.00 per week including paint (must pay for term in advance of starting). A trial session is £15. We offer a discounted price for a sibling if you have more than one child wanting to attend. For children aged 7 and above. 

This course is designed to expand your child's artist skills. Each lesson will be split into 2 sections. The first is a taught section followed by an opportunity to work on their own personal projects. Each week they will be shown different techniques and reference work from different artists. A past example of what the children have learnt during the term is as follows:

Observational drawing techniques / setting personal projects. Artists: Adonna Khare, Da Vinci and Diego Fazio.
Uderstanding composition / continuation of personal projects. Artists: JMW Turner and Therese Holbein.
Tone and value / continuation of personal projects. Artists: Georges Seurat and Paul Signac.
Drawing in colour / continuation of personal projects. Artists: Wassily Kandinsky.
Painting techniques / continuation of personal projects. Artists: Vincent Van Gogh, Camden Town group.
Last week: Finalise personal projects / option to repeat an activity.
