Art & Craft Classes in Nottingham

Whether you're new to arts and crafts or have experience but want to brush up on your skills, we have something for everyone to enjoy. All our classes and workshops are taught by professional tutors and many even include the use of specialist tools and equipment. We also provide tea, coffee and biscuits to help keep the creativity flowing.

Our weekly classes include:

We run regular full day and some half day Saturday workshops from either 10:30am-4:00pm or 10:30am-1:30pm. Prices range from £25 - £70. Some include materials, but please check individual details for each workshop. Lunch can be ordered from The Local Not Global Deli who put together a special menu for us. Alternatively you can bring your own. We have a kitchen area with a fridge and microwave. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.

Upcoming workshops & Classes

 

Mosaics - small plaque with Sarah Camplin. Sat 15th September 10.30am-1.30pm. £25 (materials £10.00, payable in cash on the day)
This workshop will introduce you to mosaics. Sarah will discuss and help you to create a design for a small plaque. You will decorate your piece of wood with small tiles, broken china, beads and shells, which are provided by the tutor.

Painting Seaside in Watercolour with Anjana Cawdell. Sat 22nd September 10.30am - 4.00pm. £40 excluding materials
Anjana will give demonstrations showing different techniques throughout the day until you are able to paint your own seaside themed piece. You will leave with a finished painting, and Anjana will help you as you need it. Participants of all abilities welcome - no previous experience required. Please bring your own materials and any photo refernces which inspire you.

Pastel Portraiture with Helen Nowell. Sat 29th September 10.30am - 4.00pm. £40 excluding materials, except one sheet of pastel paper included in the price.
You will learn the effect of light on a figure and the proportions of a face, as well as other tips and tricks to make your portrait look lifelike. Advice and demonstrations will be given throughout the class in a relaxed environment. Please bring photo refernces of people you would like to draw. High resolution photos or those from magazines work well. If you are new to portraiture bear in mind that people showing teeth are harder to draw.

Sketchbook & Drawing Tips with Oliver Lovley. Sat 13th October 10.30am - 4.00pm. £40 excluding materials.
You will learn the practice of making quick sketches on the move, and keep a regular journal-like sketchbook. If the weather permits, Oliver would like to take a walk up the road to practice your skills of drawing whilst on the move. Tips will include how to choose places to draw, preparing for drawing on holidays and how to keep a visual diary. Also practical techniques such as sizing, finding angles and mark making. Materials that you need to provide include: a hardback cartridge paper sketchbook of at least A6 size; two pencils, one HB and one 2B; a sharpener and an eraser. 

Powertex with Alli Turner. Sat 27th October 10.30am - 4.00pm. £80 including materials. 
Here you will make your own Powertex figure which involves the hardening of fabric to create a sculpture effect. You will leave with your own piece of work at the end of the day. 

Mixed Media with Alli Turner. Sat 17th November 10.30am - 4.00pm. £40 + £10 in cash for materials, to be paid to the tutor on the day.
Here you will create a mixed media canvas using a range of materials such as paint, buttons, fabric, old photos, shells, etc. Creates a lovely piece for home decor or as a gift.

Full refunds will be issued if the workshop is cancelled or if you cancel more than 2 weeks before. Cancellations less than 2 weeks before the workshop are refunded at our discretion.




Children's art course - with Danielle Telfer. Tuesdays starting 11th September 4.30pm-6.30pm. £12.00 per week including paint (must be paid in advance of starting). For children aged 7 and above.
This course is designed to expand your child's artist skills. Each lesson will be split into 2 sections. The first is a taught section followed by an opportunity to work on their own personal projects. Each week they will be shown different techniques and reference work from different artists. The general plan of what the children will be learning is as follows:

Observational drawing techniques / setting personal projects. Artists: Adonna Khare, Da Vinci and Diego Fazio.
Uderstanding composition / continuation of personal projects. Artists: JMW Turner and Therese Holbein.
Tone and value / continuation of personal projects. Artists: Georges Seurat and Paul Signac.
Drawing in colour / continuation of personal projects. Artists: Wassily Kandinsky.
Painting techniques / continuation of personal projects. Artists: Vincent Van Gogh, Camden Town group.
Last week: Finalise personal projects / option to repeat an activity.

Toddler make and do -  Mondays starting 10th Sept 10.00am-11.00am. £5 per child (supervising adult free) including materials. For children aged 2-5 years old.
Creative sessions for you and your little one.

We will have fun colouring, painting, stamping, collaging, printing, sticking and much more. Each week will have a different theme. Themes will include: Under the sea, In the garden, Woodland walk, Fun at the fair, Seaside, Zoo, Robots and Outer space.

Please note you must book in advance. Places are very limited and we cannot guarantee being able to fit you in if you have not notified us in advance.
